WMP11

Anyone else have slow visualizations in WMP11? Blazing colors for example is very slow and even bars and waves visualizations are slower. Also when I use a visualization that uses my video card such as barr, WMP10 viz, etc. and change to a visualization that doesn't such as bars and waves, the visualization stops and does not change until I restart WMP11.

Also, CPU usage for even the bars & waves visualization goes up to the upper 30's and lower 40's %. In XP with even WMP11, CPU usage with that same viz was between 4% and 7%. Would this by chance have something to do with my soundcard drivers not being 100% proper? Thanks. "Travis King" wrote in message

I have a similar problem like yours but not quite as bad. There's some slowing of visualization on WMP 11 specially when Vista is on Aero Glass mode. It could be the video card is not powerful enough or maybe its driver is not optimized for Vista--yet. Also, the amount of memory, cpu power, chipset could afffect Vista's performance as well. Try doing a performance analysis of your system. Vista has that feature. If I remember its in the Control Panel. It evaluates your system and tells you what programs, apps, drivers are slowing the system down. Also try setting Vista for Performance and see if the symptoms disappear.

I have an Ati Radeon X1600 PRO with 256MB of GDDR2 RAM. (AGP 8x) The GPU is getting a 5.9 and the video RAM is getting a 4.3. I am using the driver that you get from Ati's website even though I got glass immediately upon installing Vista. (The reason was because I needed the ATI Catalyst Control Center to adjust the brightness because my monitor had problems. I just got a different monitor tonight. This monitor's older, but it's a 21". It's beige, which doesn't go so well with my computer, but it at least works the way it should. I'll have to see if I can paint it black.) I have 1.5GB of RAM with 1.1GB free even running Vista. I have an AMD Sempron 2800+. I can run the same visualizations in XP full-screen with no lagging at all (even with WMP11 in XP). My computer's overall rating is a 3. Sempron 2800+ = 3.1 1.5GB of RAM = 3.0 Hard Disk WD 120GB IDE 7200RPM 8MB cache HD (60GB partition) = 3.7 Ati Radeon X1600 Series = 5.9 384 Graphics Memory = 4.3
I was getting performance warnings for my sound drivers, but then later also got one for my video card drivers. They related to start-up performance and sleep performance.

Maybe it is the video drivers because Aero Glass is always a little slow (FPS isn't high enough) when WMP11 is running. Whenever I close WMP11, the performance of Aero Glass goes back up and windows will drag smoothly again and window animations are smooth again. It doesn't make a difference if there's a visualization going in WMP11 or not. "Travis King" wrote in message

I'm narrowing it down more... DWM is eating 30% of my CPU when running WMP11. Now the question is, why? "Travis King" wrote in message

Hi,
I rebooted Vista a few days ago and in one session WMP11 tells me that there is a problem with the sharing of the library and now the library as no content and when I set the library folder for the music and video, nothing happens.
When I try to disable the sharing and hopefully restore my library, it simply crash and does nothing else
Any help will be appreciated -- Thank in advance Merci a l'avance
